Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD) is a safety feature that automatically silences incoming calls and notifications to help you focus on the road. However, it can be a bit annoying if you’re expecting an important call or message.
Fortunately, there’s a way to turn it off while you’re on the go. Here’s how to disable the feature on iOS 11 and later.
Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD)
Do Not Disturb While Driving is a feature introduced in iOS 11 that can help you reduce your phone use while driving. This can reduce your chances of getting into a car accident and lower your insurance rates.
This feature is a great option for drivers who have a hard time focusing on the road because it prevents you from hearing notifications on your phone, making it easier to focus on the road. This feature can also be used to limit the number of incoming calls that come in.
It’s important to remember that this feature only works when you’re connected to a Bluetooth-enabled device, so make sure your iPhone is connected to your car’s audio system or a hands-free accessory while you’re driving.
If you don’t want to enable this mode when you’re not in a moving vehicle, you can disable it manually. To do this, open Settings and go to Do Not Disturb While Driving.
The first option is Automatically, which means that Do Not Disturb While Driving will activate when your phone detects you’re in a car and you have the feature enabled. You can also select When Connected to Car Bluetooth, which will activate Do Not Disturb While Driving when your iPhone connects to your car’s Bluetooth system.
You can also manually activate Do Not Disturb While Driving by tapping on the car image in your Control Center. This feature is only activated when you’re connected to a CarPlay-compatible device or a Bluetooth-enabled audio device like a headset.
Another option is Exceptions, which lets you create a list of contacts who can reach you during DND while driving. You can then choose which people are allowed to contact you and set a time period in which you must allow them to do so.
Lastly, you can also ask Siri to read text messages during your drive, which will ensure that you don’t glance at your phone and distract yourself. This option is available on iOS and Android devices, but it’s especially helpful for drivers with older models that don’t have Do Not Disturb While Driving.
Do Not Disturb While Connected to Car Bluetooth
If you are driving, it is important that you focus on the road and not on your phone. This is where the new Do Not Disturb feature on an iPhone comes in handy. It helps you to keep your focus on the road by limiting the amount of notifications that you receive and also suppresses incoming phone calls if you are not connected to a bluetooth hands-free device.
You can activate Do Not Disturb while you are connected to a car Bluetooth, manually from the Control Center or it can be turned on automatically based on detection of motion in your car. The automatic setting is ideal if you are the driver of your vehicle but it can be inconvenient if you are a passenger in your vehicle and want to turn off Do Not Disturb while driving.
When you enable this mode, your phone will start to mut all incoming notifications and phone calls until you pull over and take a break from the road to read them. This will not only help you to stay focused but can also save lives.
This feature can be disabled and turned off by going to Settings on your iPhone. When the feature is enabled, you will see a crescent moon at the top of the screen which lets you know it is active.
If you have the Do Not Disturb while connected to car Bluetooth feature on, it will automatically mute all incoming notifications and phone calls and your screen will turn dark until you are able to pull over and read them. You can even customize this feature with auto-reply messages that will allow your contacts to get back to you in an emergency if they type in the word “urgent”.
Once you have this feature enabled, your phone will show a bar at the top of the screen letting you know incoming notifications are being muted. You can also change the auto-reply message for all your contacts or only those with specific groups like favorites or recents.
Do Not Disturb While Using CarPlay
Apple’s iOS 11 includes a feature called Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD), designed to help you concentrate while on the road. This mode stops incoming calls, text messages, and notifications from distracting you and keeps your iPhone silent.
While this feature is in place, you will not be able to receive any incoming calls or messages until you manually turn it off. It will also stop any incoming emergency alerts or timers.
This mode is available on all iPhone models running iOS 11, including the latest iPhone X, and is meant to keep you focused on your driving. You can turn this mode on and off, or set it to automatically switch on when you’re in the car.
In the Settings app, swipe down on the Do Not Disturb while Driving toggle to enable this feature or turn it off if you want to disable it entirely. The default setting is to silence incoming calls, but you can change this to ignore incoming texts and apps.
If you have a newer iPhone, you can also use the Activate With CarPlay toggle to turn on DNDWD when your phone is connected to your car’s hands-free system through CarPlay. This option is not recommended for everyone because it can interfere with CarPlay, but if you have this turned on, it will be activated when you connect your phone to your car through this system.
There is a subtle glitch with this mode, though. While you’re in Do Not Disturb while Driving, you can receive texts and notifications if someone replies with “urgent.” However, this will only happen when a friend or family member sends a message that is genuinely urgent. If you want to read that message, pull over and ask Siri to do so.
This mode can be a helpful tool when you’re driving, but it’s important to remember that a cell phone is still a distraction and shouldn’t be used while you are on the road. You should always focus on your driving, so take advantage of all the options that are available to you in the Settings app and stay safe on the roads!
Do Not Disturb While Activating Siri
Do Not Disturb (DND) is a way for you to set time limits for when your phone will not disturb you. It works by blocking calls, messages, and notifications. You can also ask Siri to turn DND on and off. To use DND, you need to enable it first.
There are several ways to enable Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, but the simplest method is by asking Siri. You can also turn DND on by using Control Center or Settings.
Siri is the digital assistant that comes with iOS devices. She can help you send text messages, place phone calls, set reminders, operate iTunes and more.
When you first activate Siri, it will ask you to “train” her so that she can recognize your voice. This is done through a series of phrases and questions, such as “What is the weather like today?”
You can also tell Siri to add a meeting or appointment to your calendar. To do this, you’ll need to give her the date and time of the event.
Alternatively, you can just say “Hey Siri” to access the voice assistant and get answers quickly. However, you may not be able to use “Hey Siri” if your device is locked.
If you’re unable to use “Hey Siri” while your iPhone is locked, you can fix this by turning on the Allow Siri When Locked setting in the settings menu. This will enable you to quickly and easily use the voice assistant even when your screen is covered.
The easiest way to access Siri when your device is locked is by using the “Hey Siri” button on the side of your phone. You can find this by swiping down from the top of the screen on an iPhone with Face ID, or swiping up from the bottom on other models.
Once you’ve enabled the “Hey Siri” button, you can activate it by saying “Hey Siri” or pressing the Home or Side buttons. You can also use this feature when your device is unlocked.
If you’re having trouble using “Hey Siri,” it might be because your headphones are not connected to the iPhone. If this is the case, you should put them in a case or remove them from your device. Then, you can try to activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri” again and see if it works.
